In a new study using brain scans of former NFL athletes, Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers say they found high levels of a repair protein present long after a traumatic brain injury such as a concussion takes place. The repair protein, known as 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO), is known to be present in the brain at high levels in the immediate aftermath of brain injury as part of the inflammatory response and to facilitate repair. The new findings in JAMA Network Open suggest that brain injury and repair processes persist for years after players end collision sports careers, and lead to long-term cognitive problems…
Amidst the flurry of National Hunt horse racing, there exists a pinnacle achievement that transcends the sport’s boundaries – a triumph in the Grand National. Renowned as the crown jewel of jumps racing on the UK & Ireland racing calendar, this gruelling four-mile and two-and-a-half-furlong handicap presents a formidable challenge for trainers, jockeys, and steeds alike. While illustrious names like Willie Mullins and Nicky Henderson boast remarkable resumes — including 103 and 73 Cheltenham Festival winners, respectively — they have just one Grand National victory between them — underscoring the event’s daunting nature. “You’re my missing puzzle piece. I’m complete.” — Katy Perry Bullshit. Why do so many single people tend to feel like shit about themselves and desperate to get into any kind of relationship? Because of this shit right here. The notion of this lyric implies you’re incomplete without a significant other. And you’re not. You’re a whole, complete person all on your own. You’re already cake. The idea you’re missing something without a significant other in your life destroys self-esteem and self-worth, leaves…

Narcissists have a false self. They’re master illusionists. They behave like a little king or queen — whether bragging or sulking. Their whole personality is a charade crafted to deceive you into believing they are confident, superior, self-sufficient, likable, and caring. In studies, groups of people met with and liked a narcissist, but after 6 more interviews, they discerned the narcissist’s true nature and changed their mind. Their personality is designed to impress and compensate for their hidden shame, exposed when their grandiosity doesn’t match reality. Most of the time, they will alter their perception of reality to protect their false self. An air of…
I was talking to a friend recently who went on a series of dates with a girl he was beginning to have a strong connection with since things were going well. “Out of nowhere,” their dynamic went from great to nonexistent. After a long conversation with him, it was pretty easy to identify what went wrong. He broke one of the three golden rules. I will have to leave you on a cliffhanger because the other two are for articles I will write after this, but rule number 1 never gives a woman the ick, otherwise known as instantly turning…
